FaceTime not working; how to fix on iPhone or iPad

Today the majority of people prefer video-calls to ordinary calls in their working and everyday life. The FaceTime video calling feature is one of the handiest and exciting feature of the iOs and Mac platforms. Apple users noticed that FaceTime is more convenient for communication between two Apple devices and very simple to use than its immediate predecessor-  Skype. Exactly Skype was the first program which allows people to see each other through the distance, using a webcam, even if they are in different distant corners of the world.

FaceTime activating problems

1. FaceTime is not available everywhere.

Unfortunately, if you find your country in a list of countries where Facetime is not available, we have to disappoint you. You won’t be able to use FaceTime in any case.

There are these countries : Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates.

2. Check to see whether your iPad or iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network or not.

Yes, every time you see Facetime not working you should make sure that it is connected to the internet.

For Wi-Fi: Tap on Settings icon > Wi-Fi and choose yours. It’s possible to check an internet connection by opening a browser.

For Cellular: Tap on Settings icon > Cellular . Then you will see several options and you should make sure that cellar is active and FaceTime slider is turned on.



3. Valid Apple ID

Check to see that your Apple ID is active. Noticed that your Apple ID has to be an email address to register FaceTime on iPad, iPad 2 and iPod touch. Or you can create a new Apple ID through the AppStore or through the Settings. Then Tap on Settings icon > FaceTime to make sure that your email address is verified. If you see “Waiting for Activation” turn FaceTime off then back on (Settings > FaceTime)

Receiving calls problems

1.Correct data

Make sure that your phone number and email address are written correctly. Often, you leave some letters or numbers in your email address. (Tap Settings icon> FaceTime> check to see that all parameters are set correctly). Also, make sure that you use the same email address on all devices.

2. Correct date and time

Receiving calls problems often appears because of incorrect date and time. Make sure that these two parameters are set correctly. ( Settings > General > Date & Time) It could be better if you change your Date and Time slider to be set automatically.( in the “green” position)


3. Restrictions

Check to see that all restrictions are turned off. Especially Camera and FaceTime because they are connected with each other(Disabling the camera will disable FaceTime). If you need restrictions on at a very short time, make sure that these two parameters aren’t off under the same settings. ( Settings > General > Restrictions)


4. Fetch New Data 

Chech to see if the Fetch New Data is set to “Push”. In this case, FaceTime will be alerted of the incoming calls. Tap on  Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data > choose ” Push”


5. FaceTime blocked list

Make sure that a person you would like to call or who would like to call you is not in a Blocked list. In this case, you restrict an ability to call you or someone in this list, call, using FaceTime and send and receive messages via iMessage. To check what people are in this list Go to the Settings> FaceTime> Blocked list > Clean this list if you add a person accidentally.



If FaceTime still not working 

1. Restart your iPhone, iPad, iPod or Mac

The easiest way to fix everything on Apple devices is to restart them. This way is possible if you made sure that all FaceTime settings were set correctly and you don’t know what else issues are left without viewing. If FaceTime failed, this may relieve the errors. (Tap on the Block button long > Turn it off > Turn it on and check the FaceTime again)

2. Update your operating system to the latest release

Some problems with facetime appeals because of your operating system version is not up to date. To fix it Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Make sure that your software is updated to the latest release. It made sense for us to update because some updates failed and the latest release fixes its bugs. If it is not, Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Download and install


3. Restore

If are you still having problems with FaceTime efficiency : FaceTime not working or you can’t find FaceTime app on your device and activate it – Make sure you first back up your device using iCloud or iTunes.

It will be the last step before you will contact with Apple Support or re: Store. Then you are given the choice of restoring your device or giving it to the main office to check the efficiency of your device.
